Emil Lundgren AB – from gut instinct to full control with Qondoc

“We used to do all work manually. In practice, we followed our gut instinct, and we probably estimated to a certain extent. We now have full control. We have better quality decision bases and do not buy things unnecessarily. All thanks to Qondoc.” Interview with Peder Vegborn who is the IT manager and is responsible for seven offices with 250 personal computers.

We are utilising our infrastructure more efficiently

“We use Qondoc primarily to produce inventories,” says Peder Vegborn, who then explains that: “We can see exactly what computers we have and what software is on them. Microsoft may have sent out a new patch or a security update. We then see which computers have been upgraded and which ones we need to deal with. Someone may have finished a project. We can then move a software licence from one computer to another instead of buying a new licence, which was what we previously often did. With the help of Qondoc, we are utilising our infrastructure more efficiently.”

From gut instinct to full control

“At first, we only wanted to have a inventory tool to see which computers existed and how they were configured, but we soon saw opportunities for much more than that. We use Qondoc for troubleshooting and for planning purchases, among other things. We used to do all work manually. In practice, we relied on gut instinct, and we probably made estimates to a certain extent. We now have full control. We have better quality decision bases and do not buy things unnecessarily - all thanks to Qondoc.”

The company has existed since 1919 and is one of Sweden’s leading electrical installation companies. Our customers are primarily within the engineering and construction industry.

The Swedish Forest Agency – overview and control in a countrywide WAN

“Qondoc gives me an overview of the whole system. If we were to close down server 12 at nine o’clock next Monday, for example, I would then see which system owners were affected and could contact them. If I want to know how many servers are running Windows 2000, I get the answer in 20 seconds. Before, I had to call all system owners and ask them personally.” Interview with Roland Lindblad, who is the manager of the operations and technology group and is responsible for 120 servers and 1 400 personal computers at 160 offices.
