Crystal-clear systems mapping
Uppsalahem, a large housing provider, is taking stock of their IT environment. And Qondoc is helping their IT Department with a product that easily generates systems maps to illustrate how various systems are connected. “This allows us to monitor the status of our systems on an ongoing basis, and decide which ones to keep and which ones to replace. It’s great to have an overview that allows us to see how much the systems are used,” Mattias Falk, an IT technician at Uppsalahem, explains.
Great at database connections
Qondoc has been selected for use at Uppsalahem’s IT Department, to provide a user-friendly overview of the dependencies present in the company’s system. “Qondoc is great at database connections,” Mattias Falk adds, and goes on to say that once systems relationships are imported into the Qondoc unit and all the data is located in a single system, it’s easy to obtain reports and statistics: “This wasn’t possible before. Now we can access important data and demonstrate the effects of changes in the IT system, which certainly makes it easier to make well-informed decisions. The visualisation Qondoc provides helps the IT staff, but it also is very helpful to other members of the organisation who aren’t familiar with the system maps, as well, to gain insight into our system connectivity.”
Licensing management is an added bonus
When Uppsalahem decided to go with Qondoc, their prime motivator was the systems mapping capabilities with a focus on servers and on which computers did what.
“Then we discovered an extra benefit - better licensing management. Our first step was to manage our servers, but when we took at closer look at Qondoc’s capabilities, we realised the benefits of inputting our clients. A good example of this is our automation project, where we are now able to easily find out which applications are connected to our various stations.”
